The following statements were made in 2009, prior to her passing: I attended Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco and graduated in May 1975. For many years, I was the only attorney in a small town in northern California. The significance of that statement is that I was considered the family lawyer for quite a few families in the area. I was required to become knowledgeable in a variety of civil subjects. The community was growing quickly, and the problems were quite diverse. I faced the necessity of handling problems in the most efficient and cost effective way. Through working closely with families, I learned to handle not only specific problems but the underlying motivations and causes for those problems. Therefore, I became proficient in a wide variety of civil law subjects.
